Man arrested on assault charge in Auburn

AUBURN, NY — A man was arrested early Friday morning following a domestic dispute on Orchard Street.

Officers of the Auburn Police Department were dispatched to a residence at approximately 4:31 a.m. on May 30, 2026, in regards to a domestic dispute.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim who stated she was in a physical domestic with Gabriel Davis.

The victim advised that during the domestic dispute a physical altercation ensued in which Davis grabbed a glass candle and struck the back of her head approximately three to four times.

The victim reported significant pain and a large bump on the back of her head.

The victim also had candle wax on her arm and shirt from being struck.

Davis was interviewed and denied ever hitting the victim.

Davis was subsequently arrested after further investigation.

Gabriel Davis, 56, was charged with assault in the third degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.

Davis was processed at Auburn Police Department headquarters and transported to Cayuga County Jail for centralized arraignment.
