Man charged with drug possession in Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, NY — A traffic stop led to drug charges against a Slingerlands man on May 27, 2026.

Cameron R. Waters, 32, of Slingerlands, was charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree, a class B felony, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree, a class A misdemeanor, and possession of a controlled substance in non-original container, a class A misdemeanor.

Members of the New York State Police Troop B-Violent Gangs and Narcotics Enforcement Team were patrolling in the town when they initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for violating a vehicle and traffic law.

During the stop, probable cause was established to prompt a search of the vehicle.

Further investigation revealed that Waters was in possession of approximately 18 grams of cocaine, 3 grams of MDMA, and prescription medications.

He was subsequently arrested and transported to the State Police station in North Hudson for processing.

Waters was held in the Essex County Jail until his arraignment in the Town of Elizabethtown Court.
