Student investigated for threatening comment in Westmoreland

WESTMORELAND, NY — A student was investigated Thursday afternoon after making a comment on a school bus that other students deemed threatening, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol.

The incident was reported to Westmoreland Central School District administration at around 2:45 p.m.

Administration notified the School Resource Officer assigned to Westmoreland Junior/Senior High School, and an investigation was initiated involving the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Juvenile Aid Unit.

The student who made the comment was located at home under the supervision of a parent.

Interviews with the student and parent were conducted.

The investigation determined the comment was not a credible threat.

The student has not been charged.
