POWNAL, VT — A Pownal man was cited for excessive speed after a traffic stop on U.S. Route 7.
James E. Lane, 25, of Pownal, was observed driving southbound near Oak Hill School Road at 100 mph on May 26, 2026, at approximately 11:19 p.m., according to Vermont State Police.
The posted speed limit in that area is 50 mph.
Troopers conducted a traffic stop and identified Lane as the operator of the vehicle.
Lane was cited for excessive speed and ordered to appear in Vermont Superior Court – Bennington Criminal Division on July 6, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.
