Two arrested on shoplifting charges in Ulster

ULSTER, NY — Two women were arrested on shoplifting and conspiracy charges following a February theft at a local store.

Robin Cantwell, 53, of Kingston, and Cindy M. Smith, 41, of Saugerties, were both arrested on May 15 for Petit Larceny and Conspiracy in the Sixth Degree.

Ulster Police received a complaint on Feb. 12 of two female shoplifters who had left the store with two shopping carts of merchandise, valued at $736.38, and fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Through investigation, the females were identified and located.

They were both processed and released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Ulster Court at a later date.

ULSTER, NY — A Kingston man was arrested after allegedly damaging a vehicle at an apartment complex.

Joseph N. Waterman, 55, of Kingston, was arrested on May 15 for Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree.

Ulster Police received a complaint on April 17 for damage that occurred to a vehicle the prior night at Royal Gardens Apartment Complex.

An investigation determined that Waterman intentionally caused damage to the victim’s vehicle by keying the vehicle and throwing eggs on the vehicle.

Waterman was processed and turned over to the Ulster County Jail to await arraignment in Ulster County CAP Court.

ULSTER, NY — A Kingston man turned himself in to police on an active arrest warrant.

Robert T. Burns, 37, of Kingston, was arrested on May 18 for an active Arrest Warrant for Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree.

Burns turned himself in to the Ulster Police Department.

He was processed, and arraigned at Ulster County CAP Court, where he was released on his own recognizance, to appear in Town of Ulster Court at a later date.

ULSTER, NY — A Boiceville man was arrested after allegedly stealing merchandise from Lowe’s.

Stephen C. Heitzman, 31, of Boiceville, was arrested on May 19 for Petit Larceny.

Lowe’s Loss Prevention alleged that Heitzman stole $180.00 worth of merchandise and passed all points of sale without rendering payment.

Heitzman was processed, and released on an appearance ticket, to appear in Town of Ulster Court at a later date.

ULSTER, NY — A Bronx man turned himself in to police on an active bench warrant.

Edwin M. Anthony, 42, of Bronx, was arrested on May 19 for an active Bench Warrant for Driving While Intoxicated.

Anthony turned himself into the Ulster Police Department.

He was processed, and arraigned in the Town of Ulster Court, where he was released on his own recognizance to reappear at a later date.

ULSTER, NY — Two Port Ewen residents were arrested after allegedly stealing merchandise from ShopRite.

Byron L. Terpening, 41, and Leah M. Brooks, 40, both of Port Ewen, were arrested on May 20 for Petit Larceny.

ShopRite Loss Prevention alleged that Terpening and Brooks selected $355.47 in merchandise and then passed all final points of sale without attempting to make payment.

Both subjects were processed and released on appearance tickets to appear in Town of Ulster Court at a later date.

ULSTER, NY — A Berne man was arrested after allegedly failing to scan merchandise at ShopRite.

Dean R. Pugh, 32, of Berne, was arrested on May 20 for Petit Larceny.

ShopRite Loss Prevention alleged that Pugh intentionally failed to scan $483.78 in merchandise and then passed all final points of sale without attempting to make payment.

Pugh was processed and released on an appearance ticket to appear in Town of Ulster Court at a later date.
