Man arrested on weapons charges in Cohoes

COHOES, NY — A 20-year-old man faces multiple felony charges following a domestic disturbance call on Congress Street.

Officers responded to a residence at approximately 2 p.m. Monday for a reported domestic disturbance involving allegations of a physical altercation and the possible presence of a firearm.

Upon arrival, officers secured the scene and conducted an investigation.

During the investigation, Messiah Wallace, of Colonie, was observed leaving the area and was detained.

Officers subsequently located and recovered a Phoenix Arms .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol loaded with six rounds that had been discarded nearby, along with .7 grams of cocaine.

Wallace was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Cohoes Police Department for processing.

Wallace was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree-loaded firearm, a class C felony; criminal use of a firearm in the 2nd degree-possession of deadly weapon, a class C felony; criminal possession of controlled substance-cocaine, a class D felony; and tampering with physical evidence, a class E felony.

Wallace was arraigned in Cohoes City Court before Judge Knowles and remanded to Albany County Correctional Facility on $50,000 cash bail, $100,000 bail bond, $250,000 partially secured bond.
