MARLBOROUGH, MA — Three suspects were arrested following an attempted carjacking and police chase that ended with a vehicle crash and extensive search operation.
Marlborough Police responded to Ghiloni Park at approximately 1:28 p.m. Monday for a reported attempted vehicle theft.
The victim reported that while resting inside his parked vehicle, a masked individual opened the driver’s door.
The suspect immediately fled and entered a waiting vehicle after realizing the vehicle was occupied.
Officers later attempted to stop a vehicle matching the description provided.
The operator fled from police, nearly striking an officer who was working a traffic detail.
The vehicle crashed on Parmenter Road and overturned.
All three occupants fled into a nearby wooded area.
The vehicle had been reported stolen earlier that day from Wayland.
Officers established a perimeter and conducted an extensive search involving patrol officers, detectives, K-9 teams and aviation assets.
All three suspects were located and apprehended.
One adult suspect was charged with attempted carjacking, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, breaking and entering a motor vehicle for a felony, conspiracy, assault with a dangerous weapon and numerous motor vehicle violations.
Two juvenile suspects were also taken into custody.
The Framingham Police Department K-9 Unit, Hudson Police Department K-9 Unit, Massachusetts State Police K-9 Unit, Massachusetts State Police Air Wing, Southborough Police Department, Wayland Police Department, Hudson Police Department and Sudbury Police Department assisted in the incident.
