DORCHESTER, MA — A traffic stop for a missing inspection sticker led to the arrest of two people and the recovery of two loaded firearms, crack cocaine and a knife early Tuesday.
Officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) conducted the stop at about 12:42 a.m. in the area of 653 Blue Hill Avenue after running a query on a vehicle while on patrol on Columbia Road.
As officers approached the vehicle, the front passenger concealed his face with a balaclava mask while guarding a black fanny pack with his left arm and staring straight ahead, avoiding eye contact with officers, police said.
The four occupants were removed from the vehicle.
Officers found a large hunting knife inside the fanny pack the front passenger had been guarding.
In the rear of the vehicle on the driver’s side, officers located a second fanny pack containing a firearm, police said.
A 16-year-old juvenile female was taken into custody.
The firearm was determined to be a ghost gun loaded with 18 rounds of live ammunition.
A plastic bag containing a substance believed to be crack cocaine was also inside the fanny pack in which the firearm was recovered.
A second female passenger was found to be in possession of a firearm when she was removed from the vehicle, police said.
The firearm was located inside the suspect’s undergarments.
During the booking process, officers recovered two plastic bags containing a substance believed to be crack cocaine inside the suspect’s socks.
The firearm was determined to be a Smith and Wesson SD40VE loaded with 11 rounds of live ammunition.
Police arrested a 16-year-old female of Taunton and Jacqueline Rose Botelho, 18, of Fall River.
The 16-year-old is charged with delinquent to wit; carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, possession of a large capacity feeding device and possession of Class B drugs.
Botelho is charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, possession of a large capacity feeding device and possession of Class B drugs.
Both are expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
The front passenger was issued a summons to appear in Dorchester District Court on charges of carrying a dangerous weapon and possession of Class D drugs.
