RUSHVILLE, NY — A Rochester man was arrested on drunken driving charges following a traffic stop on State Route 247.
Robert J. Beckwith, 65, of Rochester, was stopped at 5:57 p.m. May 22 in the town of Potter after deputies observed a vehicle and traffic violation, according to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.
Beckwith showed signs of intoxication during contact with deputies, authorities said.
He performed a series of standardized field sobriety tests and was taken into custody.
Beckwith was transported to the Yates County Jail, where he provided a chemical breath test.
He was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08% or greater, operating while registration suspended or revoked, all misdemeanors, and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, a violation.
Beckwith was released on tickets and is scheduled to appear in Potter Town Court at a later date.
