BOSTON, MA — A Boston man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that left one person injured earlier this month in Dorchester.

Chivaugn Nettles, 21, of Boston, was taken into custody Friday at his Huntington Avenue residence by officers assigned to the Boston Police Fugitive Unit.

The arrest stems from a shooting that occurred at approximately 1:20 a.m. on May 13 near 25 Dacia Street.

Officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to the area following a radio call for a person shot.

ShotSpotter technology activated for multiple rounds fired across two nearby locations.

Upon arrival, officers observed ballistic damage to multiple residences on Dacia Street and a parked vehicle.

Numerous shell casings and additional evidence of a person being shot were also located in the area.

Officers were subsequently notified of a gunshot wound victim who had been brought to a local hospital, where the individual was treated for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives from District B-2 conducted an extensive investigation that included the review of surveillance footage, the execution of search warrants on a suspect vehicle and a Huntington Avenue residence, and the collection and processing of physical evidence.

Nettles was arrested without incident and transported to District B-2 for booking.

He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, second offense; carrying a loaded firearm without a license, second offense; assault and battery by discharge of a firearm; assault with a dangerous weapon (two counts); discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building; and unlawful possession of ammunition, subsequent offense.
