Man cited for larceny in Essex

ESSEX, VT — A transient man was issued a criminal citation after police recovered two stolen bicycles during a patrol targeting recent property thefts.

Essex Police officers encountered two individuals on Blair Road at approximately 10:50 p.m. on May 21.

After speaking with them, officers recovered two bicycles believed to have been stolen.

One bicycle had been previously reported stolen and has been returned to its owner.

The second bicycle is believed to be from the Blair Road area but has not yet been reported stolen.

David Godin, 46, a transient, admitted to the theft of the bicycle and was issued a criminal citation to appear in Chittenden Superior Court on July 2 for larceny.

A second person was identified, and charges may be added in the future.

Police are seeking information on the owner of the second bicycle.
