BENTON, NY — Two people were airlifted to a hospital following a head-on collision on State Route 14A on Thursday morning.
The Yates County Sheriff’s Office and first responders were dispatched to the scene just north of the Village of Penn Yan at 11:38 a.m.
David M. Locascio, 63, of Liberty, was traveling northbound on State Route 14A when his vehicle veered out of his lane and into the southbound lane, where it collided with another vehicle operated by Diane M. Robinson, 83, of Victor, according to authorities.
Locascio’s vehicle left the roadway and collided with a tree after the initial crash.
The Penn Yan Fire Department extricated Locascio from his vehicle.
Both Locascio and Robinson were transported via helicopter to Strong Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Locascio suffered chest pain and facial and head injuries, while Robinson suffered chest pain.
The Yates County Accident Investigation Unit was called to the scene.
Charges are pending further investigation.
