PELHAM, NH — A man has been sentenced to 6 to 12 years in state prison following an officer-involved shooting that occurred on May 16.

The incident took place at the Nashua Road apartments when Pelham police responded to a call involving a suicidal, intoxicated individual experiencing a mental health crisis.

Officers made repeated efforts to connect the man with mental health services before the situation escalated into a shooting.

The man, identified as Brockelbank, pleaded guilty on April 30.

The officers involved in the incident advocated for mandated mental health and substance use treatment to be included as part of his sentence.

No officers were killed in the shooting, though Police Chief Anne T. Perriello said they came dangerously close to losing their lives.

The Attorney General’s Office released its final report on the shooting earlier this week.
