NEW BEDFORD, MA — Two people were arrested following a suspected cocaine distribution operation that resulted in the seizure of large quantities of cocaine and fentanyl, along with a loaded ghost gun.
On May 18, detectives executed search warrants at two residences and a Honda Accord as part of the operation targeting Oscar Moreno, 30, of New Bedford.
As a result of the investigation and subsequent searches, detectives seized approximately 946.4 grams of cocaine, 306 grams of fentanyl, Percocet tablets, a loaded .40 caliber Poly-80 ghost gun containing eight rounds of ammunition, packaging materials, digital scales, and $2,280 in U.S. currency believed to be proceeds from drug sales.
Moreno has a prior conviction from December 2021 for possession with intent to distribute a Class D substance.
He was arrested and charged with trafficking 200 grams or more of cocaine, trafficking 200 grams or more of fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute a Class A substance, possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance, possession of a Class B substance, and conspiracy to violate the drug law.
Moreno’s roommate, Janessa Quino, of New Bedford, was summonsed on the same charges.
An occupant of the Monroe Drive residence, identified as Jalen Perry, 26, of New Bedford, was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm without an FID card, possession of an untraceable firearm, possession of a large-capacity firearm, and possession of a Class B substance.
