PENN YAN, NY — A 58-year-old man was arrested after police determined he filed a false anonymous complaint to harass a person protected by a court order.
Robert T. Sherlock of East Syracuse was taken into custody by Penn Yan Police following an investigation into an anonymous tip411 complaint received by Yates County Dispatch.
Police found that Sherlock had made the report himself.
The report was harassing in nature toward a protected party named in a stay away order of protection issued out of Auburn City Court.
Police determined the anonymous report was made to force unwanted contact with the protected party.
Sherlock was processed at the Yates County Jail where he remains awaiting Centralized Arraignment Processing.
