COHOES, NY — Two men were arrested following a traffic stop on Route 787 near Tibbits Avenue on Friday evening.
Cohoes police officers conducted the routine traffic stop at approximately 8 p.m.
During the investigation, the vehicle’s passenger, Miguel A. Flores, 23, of Albany, was found to be in possession of a fully loaded Taurus G2C 9mm semi-automatic handgun, police said.
Flores and the driver, Yandell Moya, 20, of Troy, were both taken into custody without incident.
They were transported to the Cohoes Police Department for processing.
Flores was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree-loaded firearm, a class C felony; criminal use of a firearm in the second degree-possession of deadly weapon-loaded, a class C felony; criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree-ammunition feeding device, a class D felony; criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree-previous conviction, a class D felony; criminal possession of a firearm, a class E felony; and unlawful possession of certain ammunition feeding devices, a class B misdemeanor.
Flores was arraigned in Cohoes City Court and remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility without bail.
Moya was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree, an uncategorized misdemeanor, and a muffler exhaust system violation and released.
