Man arrested in home invasion in Dorchester

DORCHESTER, MA — A Quincy man was arrested May 15, 2026, in connection with a violent home invasion that occurred in April.

Robert Rutledge, 43, of Quincy, faces charges including home invasion, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a person 65 or older.

Officers responded to 40 Stratton Street at approximately 2:49 a.m. on April 20, 2026, for a report of an assault and battery in progress.

Upon arrival, officers found a victim bleeding heavily from facial injuries.

A second victim was located inside the apartment, bleeding from the head and unable to stand without assistance.

Both victims were transported by Boston EMS to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Detectives from District B-3 conducted an investigation that included reviewing surveillance footage from multiple cameras in the area.

The footage, combined with additional information, corroborated the suspect’s identity and tracked his movements after the attack.

A detective obtained an arrest warrant from Dorchester District Court.

On the morning of May 15, 2026, officers responded to 247 Woodrow Avenue in Dorchester for a drug investigation.

Rutledge was located and taken into custody.

He was transported to a local hospital and subsequently booked at the Nashua Street Jail.

Rutledge also faces outstanding warrants from Brockton District Court and Dorchester District Court.

He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.

A second individual was summonsed to Dorchester District Court on a separate drug-related charge during the investigation.
