Police respond to report of shots fired at Barnes Air National Guard Base in Westfield

WESTFIELD, MA — The Westfield Police Department along with the State Police, Westfield Fire Department and other local law enforcement agencies responded to Barnes Air National Guard Base on May 14, 2026, to assist military personnel responding to a report of possible shots fired on the base.

The area was cleared by military and police personnel.

No victims or evidence of a shooting were located.

The incident was limited to one area of the base and there was no threat to the community.

The incident is under investigation by military personnel.
