BOSTON, MA — Boston police arrested an 18-year-old Dorchester suspect Wednesday in connection with a double shooting at 69 Kingsdale St. in Dorchester.

Jaynell Sumler, of Dorchester, was arrested at about 1:30 p.m. by members of the Boston Police Fugitive Unit on a warrant issued out of Dorchester Court.

Sumler is charged with two counts of assault to murder, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and discharging a firearm and striking a building.

The charges stem from a shooting reported at about 6:48 p.m. Sunday in the area of 69 Kingsdale St., police said.

Officers assigned to District B-3 in Mattapan responded to a radio call for a person shot and found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds, according to police.

Both victims were taken to local hospitals, and one suffered life-threatening injuries, police said.

The Boston Police Department’s Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate.
