EAST BRIDGEWATER, MA — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a commuter train on May 13 on the town line between East Bridgewater and West Bridgewater.
East Bridgewater Police Chief Michael Jenkins and West Bridgewater Police Chief Timothy Nixon released a joint statement confirming the fatality.
Members of the East Bridgewater and West Bridgewater Police and Fire Departments responded to the incident.
The MBTA Transit Police are investigating the incident in coordination with local authorities.
No identifying information about the victim was released out of respect for the family and the ongoing investigation.
The police chiefs extended condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.
The statement noted the incident was traumatic for first responders who were on scene.
The chiefs asked for public understanding, patience and compassion for the family and emergency personnel.
