LAWRENCE, MA — Police have charged a student after investigating a social media threat involving Frost Middle School.

Officers assigned to the School Resource Division were notified Tuesday evening that an individual had allegedly made threats online about bringing a firearm to the school.

School administrators and responding officers immediately coordinated efforts to investigate the incident and identify the individual responsible.

By early Wednesday morning, investigators had positively identified the student connected to the social media account.

Authorities determined that the threat was not credible and that the student did not have access to any firearms.

Criminal charges will be pursued.

School Resource Officers were present at Frost Middle School early Wednesday morning to provide support and reassurance to students, staff, and families.

Chief Aguiler commended the swift and coordinated response of everyone involved in the prompt resolution of this matter, specifically recognizing School Resource Officer Jeffrey Sapienza for leading the investigation.

“The safety of our children remains our highest priority,” said Chief Aguiler.

“We will continue working closely with Lawrence Public Schools to ensure a safe learning environment for all students and staff.”

The Lawrence Police Department encourages parents and guardians to speak with their children about the serious consequences of making threats and the importance of reporting any concerning behavior or safety issues immediately.
