HATFIELD, MA — Police are warning residents of North Hatfield Road about a bear that has been frequenting the area.
The Hatfield Police Department said the bear has been “getting a little too friendly” with residents.
Officials said bears that find food sources begin to get comfortable in residential areas.
Police are advising residents to stand their ground and attempt to get the bear to move along by being loud and present.
Authorities also recommend keeping trash locked away to deter the animal.
The department is asking residents to help move the bear out of the neighborhood by removing potential food sources.
