WHITEHALL, NY — State Police arrested a Dresden man on endangerment charges May 5, 2026.
John J. McDonald, 48, of Dresden, was charged with Reckless Endangerment 2nd, a class “A” misdemeanor, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class “A” misdemeanor.
At about 8:07 p.m., troopers responded to the report of a disturbance that had occurred in the area of Saunders Street.
The investigation determined McDonald reportedly became involved in a verbal altercation with juveniles riding bicycles in the area and attempted to strike one with his fist out the driver’s side window while operating his moving vehicle.
McDonald then allegedly followed the juvenile in the vehicle southbound on Broadway, where he reportedly recklessly drove his vehicle into the northbound lane, nearly striking the juvenile on the bike.
McDonald was arrested at his home and transported to SP Granville for processing.
He was then transported to the Washington County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.
