PLATTSBURGH, NY — New York State Police and Homeland Security Investigations arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with an investigation into possession of child sexual abuse material.
George B. Shimell, of Plattsburgh, was arrested in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2252A (a)(5)(B) – Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material.
Shimell was remanded to Clinton County Jail to be arraigned in the Northern District Court of New York.
The arrest was made by the New York State Police Troop B Computer Crime Unit and Homeland Security Investigations.
Also assisting on the investigation were the New York State Police Special Operations Response Team, United States Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Branch, Clinton County Sheriff’s Department and the Plattsburgh City Police Department.
The investigation remains ongoing and is being conducted jointly by the New York State Police and Homeland Security Investigations.
