SOMERS, NY — A man who reported being shot by an unknown assailant has been charged with multiple felonies after state police determined his gunshot wound was self-inflicted and the incident was fabricated.

New York State Police were dispatched to a private residence on Narcissus Drive at approximately 12:15 a.m. on May 8, 2026, for a report of a male who had been shot.

Troopers interviewed the victim, identified as John A. Fiore, 47, of Somers, who reported that he opened the front door of his residence and observed an unknown male standing on the front steps.

Fiore alleged the individual fired a single round from a handgun, striking him in the left knee.

The search resulted in the seizure of numerous firearms, including two reported stolen, psilocybin mushrooms, and multiple baggies containing a white powdery substance.

Fiore was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance 2nd degree, a class A felony; seven counts of criminal possession of a weapon 2nd degree, class C felonies; criminal possession of a controlled substance 5th degree, a class D felony; six counts of criminal possession of a weapon 3rd degree, class D felonies; two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th degree, class A misdemeanors; and falsely reporting an incident in the 3rd degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Fiore was arraigned before a Westchester County Judge on May 9, 2026, and remanded to custody.

Fiore remains hospitalized due to his injuries and is scheduled to appear in Somers Town Court on May 11, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
