WHITE PLAINS, NY — State police arrested a White Plains man on felony weapons charges and driving while intoxicated early Sunday morning.
Omar Alexis Castillo-Ramos, 24, of White Plains, was taken into custody at approximately 4:20 a.m. May 10 following a traffic stop on the eastbound off ramp of the New York State Thruway (I-287).
Troopers assigned to State Police Newburgh stopped a 2018 Land Rover for vehicle and traffic law violations.
During the stop, troopers detected signs of impairment and administered standard field sobriety tests, which Castillo-Ramos failed.
He was arrested for DWI and transported to State Police Tarrytown for processing, where he registered a blood alcohol concentration of 0.15 percent.
During a vehicle inventory, troopers located a loaded semi-automatic 9mm handgun with 10 rounds of ammunition in the magazine on the floor of the rear passenger seat.
Castillo-Ramos was charged with one count of felony criminal possession of a firearm, one count of felony criminal possession of a weapon 2nd degree, loaded firearm, and DWI.
He was also issued several uniform traffic tickets for vehicle and traffic law violations.
Castillo-Ramos was arraigned at White Plains City Court and remanded to Westchester County Jail with bail set at $10,000 cash or $100,000 bond.
He is due back in White Plains City Court on May 14.
