ROME, NY — A woman was arrested after allegedly threatening to blow up an apartment building while police responded to an overdose call Sunday morning.

Members of the Rome Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to an upstairs apartment at 601 N. Washington St. at approximately 9:19 a.m. May 10 for a reported overdose.

Officers spoke with Courtney Robinson, 42, of Rome, who was irate and uncooperative.

During the investigation, Robinson made comments stating that she had turned on the gas in her apartment and was going to blow up the apartment building, police said.

Robinson was reportedly holding a lighter and attempted to ignite it several times, putting the other occupants, herself and officers on scene in danger.

Robinson was transported to Rome Health for a mental health evaluation after making several statements indicating that she did not want to live anymore.

After being released from Rome Health, Robinson was transported to Rome Police Headquarters, where she was charged with attempted arson in the second degree.

She was processed and transported to the Oneida County Jail pending arraignment.
