SPRINGFIELD, MA — A man wanted on multiple warrants was arrested Friday morning following an investigation into thefts from stores on Boston Road.
Members of the Springfield Police Detective Bureau arrested Porfirio Diaz, 42, of Springfield, at approximately 9 a.m. at his home on the 300 block of Parker Street.
Detectives in the Crimes against Property Unit applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for Diaz on Thursday, as well as a search warrant for his residence.
The arrest warrant included 10 counts of larceny from Marshall’s and Lowe’s on Boston Road.
Diaz is alleged to have repeatedly placed items in shopping carts and walked out of the stores without stopping for loss prevention officers.
The total value of stolen items across various occasions exceeded $10,000, according to police.
Diaz also had two active default warrants at the time of his arrest.
During a search of his home, officers located multiple items that had been stolen from the stores.
Those items were returned.
Diaz is charged with 10 counts of larceny under $1,200, larceny over $1,200 by a single scheme, receiving stolen property, trespassing and disorderly conduct.
