Man pleads guilty to fentanyl possession charge in Delhi

DELHI, NY — A Bainbridge man pleaded guilty to possessing fentanyl with intent to sell during a court appearance Monday.

Jason Gray, 48, entered guilty pleas to criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony, and driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor, Delaware County District Attorney Shawn J. Smith announced.

Gray admitted he was found in possession of fentanyl during a traffic stop on West Main Street in the Village of Sidney on Jan. 22.

He also admitted his intention was to sell the fentanyl.

Gray further admitted he was impaired by methamphetamine while operating the vehicle, resulting in the drug-impaired driving conviction.

The guilty pleas were entered as part of a negotiated disposition in which Gray is expected to be sentenced to five years in state prison and two years of post-release supervision.

His driver’s license will also be revoked.

First Assistant District Attorney Susan Mallery prosecuted the case.

Smith commended Officer Royce Terry of the Village of Sidney Police Department for his work on the case.
