Man arrested on larceny charge in Cortlandville

CORTLANDVILLE, NY — A 40-year-old man was arrested on a warrant stemming from a larceny that occurred last year at a local store.

Brandin S. Brown, of Moravia, was taken into custody at 10:12 p.m. on May 4 with assistance from the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.

The arrest stems from an incident on September 11, 2024, when officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to Country Max, 980 State Route 13, at approximately 12:47 p.m. for a reported larceny complaint.

Authorities determined that Brown stole merchandise from the store before fleeing the scene.

Brown was identified and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Following his arrest, Brown was transported to the Public Safety Building for processing and to await arraignment.

Brown was arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process at 10:00 a.m. on May 5 and was released on his own recognizance.

He is charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

Brown is scheduled to appear in Town of Cortlandville Court on May 13 at 11:30 a.m.
