Inmate charged with drug possession in Cayuga County Jail

AUBURN, NY — An inmate at the Cayuga County Jail has been charged with drug possession after deputies discovered cocaine in her cell.

Heidi J. Kesel, 32, was found in possession of a small baggie containing a white chunk substance on April 29, according to Sheriff Brian Schenck.

The substance tested positive for cocaine.

Deputies charged Kesel on May 6 with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and promoting prison contraband in the second degree, both class A misdemeanors.

Kesel remains in custody at the Cayuga County Jail on unrelated charges.
