Man arrested on DWI charge in Sennett

SENNETT, NY — A man was arrested on multiple charges following a two-vehicle crash on Franklin Street Road on April 29.

Murray Rogers, 55, of Sennett, was charged with driving while intoxicated first offense, aggravated driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, open container, moved from lane unsafely and no seatbelt driver.

Deputies responded to Franklin Street Road at approximately 4:24 p.m. for a reported motor vehicle crash with injuries.

When deputies arrived, they observed two vehicles with significant damage and deployed airbags.

Multiple ambulances were requested for the victims, who were transported to Auburn Community Hospital for treatment.

During the investigation, it was discovered that Rogers was traveling eastbound on Franklin Street Road when the vehicle he was operating veered over the center yellow line, striking the oncoming vehicle.

During the investigation, Rogers admitted to consuming alcohol and submitted to field sobriety testing.

Rogers was placed into custody based on those tests.

Rogers was transported to the Public Safety Building, where he provided a chemical sample of breath of 0.28 percent, which is over three times the legal limit in the state of New York to operate a motor vehicle.

Rogers was processed on the charges and brought to CAP court, where his license was revoked, and then released on his own recognizance.
