Sex offender arrested in Newfields

NEWFIELDS, NH — A registered sex offender was arraigned at Rockingham County Superior Court on multiple charges including attempted kidnapping and aggravated felonious sexual assault.

Jacob Knipstein, of Newfields, was arraigned May 6, 2026, according to the Newfields Police Department.

He faces charges of attempted kidnapping, three counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault, attempted aggravated felonious sexual assault, failure to comply with sex offender registration, knowing subsequent endangering the welfare of a child.

Knipstein was held on preventive detention.

He is a registered sexual offender with several prior convictions in New Hampshire and Maine, police said.

The investigation remains ongoing.
