Police seek suspect in robbery at Mattapan liquor store

BOSTON, MA — Boston police are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect in an unarmed robbery at a Mattapan liquor store.

Officers responded to a robbery call at Budget Liquors at 69 River Street at about 12:22 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026.

The victim told police an individual wearing a black sweatshirt and black shorts entered the store and took a bottle of wine from a shelf, concealing it in his pocket before attempting to leave.

A struggle ensued as the suspect tried to exit the store, during which the victim was struck in the head.

The suspect fled on foot down River Street toward Mattapan Square.

Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

District B-3 detectives are investigating and urge anyone with information to call (617) 343-2286.
