RUTLAND, VT — A Rutland man was arrested on his fifth DUI charge following a traffic stop late Saturday night.
Vermont State Police troopers from the Rutland Barracks stopped a vehicle at West Street and Watkins Avenue at 11:06 p.m. for a traffic violation.
The driver was identified as Samuel Hough, 33, of Rutland.
Troopers observed multiple indicators of impairment during their interaction with Hough.
Hough impeded the investigation and refused to exit the vehicle, police said.
He was removed from the vehicle and resisted arrest, according to police.
Hough was taken into custody and transported to the Vermont State Police Rutland Barracks, where he was processed for DUI after refusing chemical testing.
He was issued a criminal citation to appear in Rutland County Superior Court at a later date.
Hough was released to a sober party.
In addition to DUI, Hough was charged with impeding a public officer and resisting arrest.
