Bicyclist struck by pickup truck in Mechanic Falls

MECHANIC FALLS, ME — A bicyclist suffered serious injuries after being struck by a pickup truck Friday evening.

Officers were dispatched to the area of 65 North St. at approximately 7:10 p.m. Friday for a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision.

Officers from the Mechanic Falls Police Department, Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office, Mechanic Falls Fire Department and United Ambulance Service responded to the scene.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a red 2024 Dodge pickup traveling north on North St. struck a bicyclist who was traveling south on North St.

The bicyclist was transported by LifeFlight to Maine Medical for treatment.

A crash reconstructionist from the Lewiston Police Department responded to assist with the investigation.

The roadway was temporarily closed while investigators processed and cleared the scene of the crash.

The Mechanic Falls Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
