LEWISTON, ME — Seven juveniles have been charged with aggravated assault following a violent attack that was captured on video and circulated on social media.
The Lewiston Police Department learned of the video on April 29, 2026.
The video depicted a violent attack from earlier in the week in which several juvenile males assaulted one victim.
The assault was not reported to police at the time of the incident.
The department immediately launched an investigation into the matter.
The investigation, conducted with the assistance of the District Attorney’s Office and Juvenile Community Corrections Officers, led to the arrest and detention of five juvenile subjects on April 29, 2026.
All five were charged with aggravated assault and transported to Long Creek Youth Development Center.
Investigators continued to work the case into the early evening.
Two additional juveniles were charged with aggravated assault and transported to Long Creek Youth Development Center, bringing the total to seven juveniles charged in the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
