Man arrested on drug charge in Dorchester

DORCHESTER, MA — A drug investigation led to the arrest of a 41-year-old man and the recovery of crack cocaine and cash early Wednesday morning.

Daniel Harris, of Dorchester, was arrested at about 6 a.m. April 29 after members of the Citywide Drug Control Unit and the District D-4 Drug Control Unit executed a search warrant in the area of Norfolk Street.

Officers had conducted a drug investigation that resulted in obtaining a search warrant for Harris’s person, residence and motor vehicle.

Along with members of the SWAT Team, officers approached the residence and made entry after notifying residents of the search warrant.

As officers attempted to secure the premises, they observed Harris running from the bathroom into another room.

Harris was taken into custody as officers continued their search.

Inside the bathroom, officers observed white powder and rock drug residue inside and around the toilet as well as several empty plastic bags scattered on the bathroom floor.

Officers recovered a substance believed to be crack cocaine as well as an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency.

Harris is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on a charge of possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance.
