Man arrested in road rage shooting in Union

UNION, NY — State Police have arrested a man in connection with a road rage incident in which shots were fired at another vehicle.

Bradley Keith Scymanski III, 23, of Newark Valley, was arrested April 22, 2026, by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

An investigation determined that at approximately 2:17 p.m., a road rage incident between a GMC Yukon and a Ford EcoSport near the 2800 block of East Main Street in the town of Union escalated when the operator of the Ford EcoSport discharged a firearm at the GMC Yukon.

No injuries were reported.

Following a series of investigative steps, members of the Troop C BCI identified Scymanski as the suspect.

He was subsequently located and taken into custody without incident.

Scymanski was charged with attempted assault in the 1st degree (intent to cause serious injury with a weapon), a class C felony; criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree (loaded firearm), a class C felony; criminal use of a firearm in the 2nd degree (possessing a loaded deadly weapon), a class C felony; and reckless endangerment in the 1st degree, a class D felony.

Scymanski was processed at SP Endwell then turned over to the Broome County Jail for Centralized Arraignment, where he was remanded without bail.

A full order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim, along with a temporary Extreme Risk Protection Order.

East Main Street was temporarily shut down while Troopers conducted their investigation.
