SALEM, MA — Police have arrested two men in connection with separate armed robberies that occurred earlier this month.
On April 12 at approximately 8:46 p.m., a female motorist experienced a vehicle breakdown on Harmony Grove Road.
While speaking with roadside assistance, she was approached by an older male who initially offered assistance.
The suspect subsequently brandished a knife and forcibly took money and personal property.
Prior to fleeing the scene, the suspect threatened the victim with further harm should she contact law enforcement.
After an extensive investigation, detectives identified and arrested John McCabe, 61, of Peabody.
McCabe is charged with armed and masked robbery and intimidation of a witness.
On April 15 at approximately 2:24 p.m., a clerk at the Speedway gas station on North Street reported that an adult male approached and placed a knife against his back and demanded money.
After complying, the clerk was forced into a separate room before the suspect fled the scene.
Detectives identified and arrested Edgar Morales, 49, of Lowell.
Morales is charged with armed robbery, kidnapping, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and assault with a dangerous weapon.
Both suspects are currently being held without bail pending dangerousness hearings scheduled for next week.
