EAST LANSDOWNE, PA — A 26-year-old Pennsylvania man was arrested on drunken driving and related charges after allegedly failing to stop for police and running multiple stop signs.

Leiner J. Macao-Mocha, of Pennsylvania, was taken into custody at approximately 10:56 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Radbourne Road and Church Lane.

East Lansdowne Police Officer Stephen Mengini was on patrol as part of a statewide PennDOT-funded Aggressive Driver/DUI campaign when he observed a Dodge Charger fail to stop at a stop sign in the 200 block of Hirst Avenue.

When Mengini attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver proceeded forward for several blocks and failed to stop for police.

The vehicle came to a full stop after failing to stop for upwards of 10 stop signs, according to police.

Upon making contact with the driver, Mengini detected an odor of alcohol on the driver’s person.

Macao-Mocha was subjected to a portable breath test and a standardized field sobriety test.

He failed both tests and was taken into custody, police said.

Macao-Mocha was charged with driving under the influence, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, careless driving and duties at a stop sign.

He was released after booking and a 20-day summons was filed for his appearance in District Court 32-2-51 at a date to be determined.
