Man arrested after fleeing traffic stop in Middleburgh

MIDDLEBURGH, NY — A man was arrested after allegedly fleeing from a traffic stop and abandoning his vehicle.

George E. Bevins III, 46, of Middleburgh, was arrested after a deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop on State Route 30 in the Town of Middleburgh.

Bevins allegedly failed to stop, then abandoned the vehicle he was operating and fled on foot.

Bevins was identified as the operator of the vehicle and was located a short time later at his residence, a short distance from the location of the vehicle.

Bevins was charged with obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree and multiple traffic tickets.

Bevins was processed and released on appearance tickets to appear in the Town of Middleburgh Court at a later date.
