Man arrested on arson charge in Endicott

ENDICOTT, NY — A Johnson City man was arrested April 14, 2026, after an investigation into an arson at a self-service car wash.

Joshua John Skobern, 39, of Johnson City, was charged with criminal mischief in the third degree, a class E felony, and arson in the fifth degree, a misdemeanor.

Troopers responded April 13, 2026, to a complaint at the Enviro Auto Wash on Watson Boulevard for damage that occurred April 12 to a car wash payment kiosk.

An investigation determined that at approximately 8:34 a.m., while in one of the car wash bays, Skobern punched the payment kiosk then struck it with a spray wand and then used a lighter to burn the faceplate, causing damage.

Troopers located Skobern at his residence April 14, 2026.

He was taken into custody and transported to SP Endwell for processing.

Skobern was issued appearance tickets to the Union Town Court on April 28, 2026.
