Man arrested on drug charges in Syracuse

SYRACUSE, NY — A man was arrested following a month-long narcotics investigation by New York State Police and the Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team.

Christopher L. Smith, 38, of Syracuse, was taken into custody Friday after investigators executed search warrants at a South Edwards Avenue residence and on Smith himself.

The search yielded approximately 154.7 grams of fentanyl, approximately 115.7 grams of crack cocaine, $14,768 in U.S. currency, plastic sandwich bags, other narcotics packaging materials and three digital scales containing cocaine residue, according to police.

Smith was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree with intent to sell, one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree, and two counts of criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the 2nd degree.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Onondaga County Justice Center without bail, where he remains in custody.
