LIVONIA, NY — A 19-year-old man was arrested on a felony grand larceny charge following an investigation into fraudulent check deposits.

Matthew Dennis, of Livonia, was taken into custody at his residence on April 15 by Investigator Martin Herkimer and Deputy Evan Wolfanger.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office began investigating a reported possible grand larceny on March 18.

Investigators allege Dennis used mobile deposit multiple times to deposit the same checks into two separate accounts.

The duplicate deposits resulted in Dennis stealing $1,288.29 from a previous employer, according to the investigation.

Dennis was charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree.

He was transported to the Livingston County Jail and turned over to Central Booking Deputies for arrest processing.

Dennis was later released with an appearance ticket and will appear in the Town of Livonia Court at a later date.
