WAPPINGER, NY — New York State Police responded to a private residence in the town of Wappinger on April 16, 2026, at approximately 10:24 p.m. for a report of a domestic dispute.
The victim reported they were struck and prevented from calling 911 by Brian D. Huyghue Jr., 28, of New York City, an investigator with the New York State Police assigned to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
Huyghue was arrested and charged with assault in the third degree and criminal mischief in the fourth degree, both class A misdemeanors.
He was arraigned in the Town of Wappinger Court and released on his own recognizance.
A temporary order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim.
