SPRING VALLEY, NY — Two men have been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in September.
The Spring Valley Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 2 Dutch Lane at approximately 5:12 p.m. on Sept. 20.
Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive 20-year-old male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Officers immediately initiated CPR until emergency medical services arrived on the scene.
The victim was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Following an intensive investigation, the Spring Valley Police Department arrested 21-year-old Doodly Metellus, of Ramapo, and 20-year-old Smay Dornaison, of Spring Valley, on April 16.
During the apprehension of Metellus, officers recovered a loaded firearm in his possession.
Metellus has been charged with murder in the second degree, a Class A felony, and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a Class C felony.
Dornaison has been charged with murder in the second degree, a Class A felony.
Both defendants were arraigned in the Village of Spring Valley Justice Court before Judge Mellion and were remanded to the Rockland County Jail.
