CLAYVILLE, NY — An Eaton man has been arrested after allegedly forcing his way into a home and assaulting a family member while three children were present.
John DeCarolis, 34, is accused of entering a residence on Main Street on April 10, 2026, and engaging in a physical altercation with an adult female family member, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol.
During the altercation, DeCarolis allegedly pushed one of the three children who was attempting to intervene.
DeCarolis fled the scene before deputies arrived, and the victim called 911.
The female victim sustained minor injuries but refused medical treatment, and none of the children were injured.
A refrain from order of protection was in place at the time of the incident.
Sheriff’s investigators obtained an arrest warrant for DeCarolis on April 14, 2026, after attempts to locate him were unsuccessful.
Members of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Warrants Unit located and arrested DeCarolis later that day after receiving information about his whereabouts.
DeCarolis was charged with burglary in the 2nd degree, a Class C felony; criminal contempt in the 1st degree, a Class E felony; aggravated family offense, a Class E felony; menacing in the 2nd degree, a Class A misdemeanor; three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, Class A misdemeanors; and harassment in the 2nd degree, a violation.
He was arraigned at CAP Court and remanded to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail.
A stay away order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim and the three children.
