WALTHAM, MA — A Lowell man has been arrested after police say they found a loaded firearm magazine and drugs in a storage unit.

Waltham Police Department officers were dispatched to the Extra Space Storage location at 37 River St. on March 9, 2026.

An employee had located a duffel bag and a loaded Glock 10mm firearm magazine in an empty storage unit.

A detective located an unloaded Glock 10mm handgun in the duffel bag.

The firearm was unsecured and had a defaced serial number, which is often done to conceal the origin of stolen firearms, police said.

Investigation produced evidence that the items may have fallen from the storage unit above.

A search warrant was applied for and granted for that unit.

The search revealed documents matching the information of the unit’s renter.

The search also led to the discovery of 14 one-pound bags of marijuana.

The drugs were packaged in a way consistent with the distribution of drugs, police said.

On March 31, 2026, the suspect responded to the Waltham Police Department after detectives had been attempting to locate him.

He was interviewed at the station.

During the interview, the suspect made statements admitting to ownership of the firearm and drugs, police said.

Evwin Teo-Grijalva, 23, of Lowell, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute Class D marijuana, carry firearm without license, possession of ammunition without FID card, receive untraceable firearm and receive stolen property $1,200.
