Drug trafficking arrest in Roxbury

ROXBURY, MA — A search warrant execution led to the seizure of trafficking amounts of fentanyl and crack cocaine along with more than $30,000 in cash Tuesday.

Officers assigned to the Drug Control Unit of Districts C-6 (South Boston), B-2 (Roxbury) and the DEA FIT group investigated illegal drug distribution on April 14.

Officers applied for and were granted search warrants for 2565 Washington Street and for James Hardy, 60, of Roxbury.

The suspect was seen exiting the building and was stopped in the area of Bartlett Street and Washington Street.

Police placed the suspect into handcuffs and provided copies of the search warrants.

As a result of both search warrants, officers located and recovered 81 grams of fentanyl, 23 grams of crack cocaine, 2 grams of cocaine, 613 grams (1.35 lbs) of marijuana and approximately $30,080 in U.S. currency.

Hardy was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.

He faces charges of trafficking of class A 36 grams, less than 100 grams; trafficking of class B 18 grams, less than 36 grams; possession with intent to distribute class D; possession with intent to distribute class D, subsequent offense; and habitual criminal offender (penalty enhancement).
